  • As a graduate of Animal Behavior College, I strive to meet the needs of my clients and their dogs by providing a training method that does not instill fear or negative responses from either party! I am a firm believer of positive reinforcement methods with puppies up to 24 weeks old and using a more balanced approach with dogs 24 weeks and above (the option to have a purely positive approach with dogs above 24 weeks is still available, but could potentially require additional training time).

All training methods provided incorporate the use of a training clicker, treats, and kibble!

I do NOT condone the use of any kind of training method that causes physical/mental harm to my dogs, and I personally like to take a gentler approach to obedience training. Be rest assured that your dog will be treated like they are my own during any kind of training program you decide to enroll in! With 8+ years of training education/experience and the clientele to back up my training, you can be confident in your decision to train with On The Geaux Dog Training!

If you would like additional information about training methods, please feel free to call/text me at (985)228-4532

  • The great thing about On The Geaux Dog Training is that we offer a wide range of training options, which also gives you the ability to choose a program that best fits you and your dog’s schedule. You have options ranging from a one-time lesson to a 4 Week Board & Train Program for behavior modification. The most popular option only calls for 3 weeks of training!

Contact me today for more information regarding length of training for lessons and Board & Train programs!

  • Yes, I do offer private lessons! These private lessons can be conducted in the comfort of your home (Baton Rouge, Hammond, Metairie, New Orleans, and surrounding areas), or at local parks (location to be determined upon scheduling).

And yes, I do offer group classes!! Once I have a sign up list with minimum of 5 clients, group classes are to be scheduled at either Audubon Park or City Park (TBD upon scheduling).

Please consider the pros and cons of the available lessons options, being aware of your schedule, needs, and most importantly your dog’s needs!

  • Yes I can! My Behavior Modification Program is specially tailored to help assist your dog with individual behaviors that you would like addressed. I can help with behaviors that include but are not limited to: dog aggression, food aggression, excessive chewing, separation anxiety, public anxiety, reactivity, resource guarding, etc. Contact me today to find out how I can help you!

  • While almost every single training company in Louisiana is going to push you to do the most expensive Board & Train option, my philosophy is a lot different:

With a simple phone consultation, I will help you determine the best course of action for your dog that is going to successfully help you with the obedience, AND have the training stick!

If you are on the fence about training for your dog in general, an over the phone or in person consultation is always a safe bet!

If you are not wanting to commit to a training package that includes daily training, updates, and field trips, private/group lessons may be right up your alley! This is also a great option for dog owners who have plenty of time to work with their dog (daily training is always recommend)!

If you happen to be a dog owner that has a super busy work schedule and would love to see progress in real time, a Board & Train program may benefit you immensely. This would also include a “graduation lesson” at the end of training to give you the know-how and tools to continue training at home!

One way or another, I can throughly assist you with the training process and help determine the right option for you and your dog!

I guarantee that I will always provide my clients with guidelines or recommendations to help choose the appropriate training plan based on their dog’s needs.

  • Great question, and it has an easy answer: there’s no specific age, but I like to say that training starts as soon as you’re home with your new puppy! If training hasn’t crossed your mind until now, or if you’ve previously thought about it being a waste of time, then don’t worry because it’s never a bad time to begin!!

By beginning training early, you will be setting your puppy up for success in the real world, and will also be helping them develop confidence at the same time, AND also developing an unbreakable bond with your four legged companion.

  • I try to provide a fair cancellation policy for my clients, as I know we’re all human and things happen!

For clients who have purchased a multi-lesson package and are on the schedule: For no-shows and all cancellations made in less than 24 hours before a scheduled lesson, it will result in a $25 charge.

If a client has purchased a lessons package and/or Board & Train Program and has not yet started: you will receive a full refund no questions asked if you provide notice of cancellation at least 24 hours before the scheduled start date. Cancellations made in less than 24 hours before the scheduled start date will result in refund of 80% of your deposit.

For public lessons and graduation lessons: please note that there is a chance your lesson/graduation may need to be rescheduled to another time and/or location upon arriving more than 15 minutes late to the meeting.

  • Just like a kid needs supplies for school, our dogs need supplies for their training! For all lessons clients: I recommend having your dog fitted with a properly secured collar (buckle or martingale recommended). Although I will be providing some treats on my end, I ask that you have some kibble and/or treats readily available for training sessions in case your dog is “picky”. I will also be providing you with a brand new training leash, although you’re more than welcome to use your own.

For all Board & Train clients, all you would need to pack for your dog is:

    • Collar (already fitted on your dog, THIS IS A MUST)

    • Leash (already attached to your dog’s collar, THIS IS ALSO A MUST)

    • Muzzle (TBD upon prior consultation and assessment)

    • Food (amount TBD upon selection of training package)

    • Optional items, but recommended: favorite treats (preferably a treat that can be used repeatedly and consistently during training), bed*, blanket*, toy(s)*

I cannot guarantee that any toys, blankets, or beds will return in the same exact condition after training has concluded, PLEASE keep this in mind.

If you opt to only pack the basics, rest assured I will provide a bed, blanket, and crate for your dog! :) Treats and toys will obviously be abundant!!

  • 100% YES! Any client that purchases any lessons package or Board & Train program will be guaranteed to have lifetime phone support with me. Follow up support will be given for the lifetime of your dog and for any potential follow up lesson, the first meeting is free of charge.

Any additional follow up lessons after the first will result in a $50 charge (not including travel fees).

  • I strive to meet the expectations of all of my current and potential clients in Louisiana, and that is why I feel honesty is the best policy here: I’m a firm believer in the idea that no one dog is “fully” trained after any run-in with a professional dog trainer. Yes, some may see results a lot quicker than others (every dog is DIFFERENT), but that doesn’t mean your dog is not receiving the beneficial help they deserve.

While you will certainly see an immense change in your dog’s obedience, and sometimes a complete elimination of problem behaviors after training with me, one must still recognize the importance of consistent practice and training at home.

Please note that throughout the training process, AND afterwards, I am there to walk my clients through every aspect of their dog’s lives and give continuing support if needed.
